Pup – Guilt Trip (Official Video)

Pup blew me away last year as I said before. But seriously, these guys are just amazeballs. Look at their video for ‚Guilt Trip‘ that’s been nominated for the Prism Prize, an award for Canada’s best music video. When you watch it, you can see why it’s been nominated. That’s definitely the stuff band legends are made of. I can once again just do nothing more but highly recommend this band and this music video!Read More

Love A – Trümmer

I highly doubt that there are a lot of people out there who remember what it was like to spend your time outside with your friends instead of inside in front of a computer screen playing video games and stuff? Well I do recall that my father had a friend who was one of the first people I knew who had a computer. Don’t ask me what kind of computer it was, but he always tried to show us some kind of strategy game centered around Napoleon. It was onRead More

Modern Baseball – Your Graduation

This is definitely one of the best videos of last year. It tells such an angsty teenage story. But it refrains from going to sad and mellow. There’s all the clichés of American high-school love everybody knows from all the cheesy movies. The end is brilliant though – and even better is the ending. I am a big fan of Modern Baseball’s album, but without this video I don’t think I would have listened to it as much as I ended up doing. Great pop-punk with emo hooks and ‚YourRead More
There are certain bands I can’t help but love. There’s also a certain kind of music that I always wanted to make, when I was a kid. I’d churn out all these stupid songs and imagined people singing along to them. I knew back then that my songs were never meant for the big stage, a small room would have done. Just a couple of people who’d understand what I was trying to say. That would have been cool. But I never got there with my music. Tigers Jaw haveRead More
Scandinavia, you beautiful endless reservoir of great music. Scandinavia, I love you for making the sun disappear for a few months each winter making young people stay in their own homes with too much alcohol, their instruments and their creativity. Women of music, I love you because you grace us with so much talent and music that I feel like an incredibly dull little boy with my acoustic guitar and my stupid teenage songs about my sad sad love life. This article is a dedication to the girls in popRead More

Front Page: Best of 2013 Part III

Daniel’s top 5+5 (no particular order) Hi. I`m the new guy. This was my 2013. 5 records I spent a lot of time with: 1. Modern Life is War – Fever Hunting (Deathwish/Indigo) The thing about reunions: most of them suck. Maybe my views are over romantic, but there are a lot of zombielike bands out there with lifeless merch, touring like undead and new songs that are absolutely brain damaging. They used to be good once, but decided to come back for the wrong reasons (also called: money). WithRead More
I’m sorry that I’m so scared Wonderful things can happen when you are young. You fall in love for the first time. You get drunk for the first time. You are able to spend all your free time not worrying about what will be. You are allowed to live in the here and now. Do you remember spending those summer nights out in the open with your friends, mulling about that girl you were into back then? Do you remember the plans you’ve made for your future? Do you rememberRead More

I don’t get it

It’s our party we can do what we want When I was at school, our arts teacher used to tell us that the best paintings are the ones that make your imagination run lose. She told us to imagine we’d be in a hospital bed for a year without anything but a painting hanging across the room. She asked us whether we thought the painting should depicture reality as good as possible or if we did not prefer a very abstract painting with shapes, contrasts and uncertainties. A fair question,Read More

Piles and Piles – Premonitions Say

Some things are weird. Like if a band from the Boston area just tries to contact you on Facebook asking you, if you would be so kind to listen to their new EP they just released via Bandcamp. Even more astonishing is the fact that when you actually listen to them and find a bloody great band just got in touch with you. This is cool but here is the next problem: Neither their facebook page, nor their bandcamp page gives you any details about them. This happened to meRead More

Old Gray – An Autobiography

I will keep breathing, but I won’t feel alive I don’t know a better feeling than standing on stage (or just in front of people if there is no stage). The excitement that builds before you go on stage, the tension building when you walk up to the microphone to say the first words, the emotions you get thrown back at you by the crowd, all that. But most importantly for me, at times it felt like an act of self-cleansing. Once you are out there, you spit everything you’veRead More
