How do we start here? Neufundland are a young band from Cologne, Germany and play a catchy yet layed back mixture of pop and indie with German lyrics. But while pop tends to be nothing more than a distraction from the shit that’s going on around us, vocalists Fabian and Fabian are taking a stance. I haven’t come across great lines such as Joseph Stalin is buying uniforms at Primark and references to Masters of the Universe (…by the spending power of Greyskull), political refugees and Kettcar in one song.

I spent last Thursday sitting in a dancing school in cologne. Eight hours in a room with 1970s-chique lights, wooden floor, one wall entirely covered by mirror glass and a little stage with speakers. It was the setting of a sales conference where several labels gave forecasts of what they’ll release next. Some of it was interesting, some of it wasn’t. It’s strange how a setting like that can influence your own perception of music. I’m quite sure that I had heard Unites by Luh before and I’m pretty certain
Read More I can’t really remember when I first heard a Beach House song. I don’t know if it was a song from their first, second or third record. When I think about it long enough I might remember the day, the time or the details and whereabouts. But right now I don’t want to know. Beach House have always been this kind of dream-like band. Existing whenever I felt like I needed to daze off. It’s in their sound. To be honest, I think their ‚hits‘ are just called ‚hits‘ because
Read More It’s been a long time since that song with handclaps and piano graced our radio stations. Boy came out of nowhere and drove everyone (starting from my sister, to my mom and even my grandma would have tapped her feet to that song if she would have been alive then) a little crazy. Once the two adorable girls had taken over Germany, entering the top 10 with their debut gold album Mutual Friends they took the next step and conquered the world. From their debut in 2011 they were constantly
Read More Sometimes music becomes only the second fiddle to what we call life. The Heart Circle Compilation was put together by members of the „90s Screamo/Hardcore/Emo/Indie“ Facebook group in support of one of its founders Marc Köhler. He is suffering from a cardiac insufficiency and 50% of his heart is kept running by a heart support system. Added to this, he suffers from the so-called ‚Factor V Leiden‘ (FVL), a genetic disorder of the clotting of blood. In the fall of 2014 he got hit by a stroke as a result
Read More It’s boiling right now in Berlin. The summer sun is sending it’s rays in bloody short and intense bursts. The office I’m working in is boiling too and I’m sweating my balls of while I’m writing this. The city is bursting with tourists relaxing in cafes, chilling in the parks, cueing in front of ice cream shops. Could be worse right? Definitely! And because every season calls for the right soundtrack, here’s our summer sun playlist. L’Aupaire – I would do it all again I first heard this song on

Beatsteaks are one of our favorite bands. That’s no secret, right? But so far we didn’t know they were big fans of cycling. Well at least that’s what they look like in their new video for Ticket. That’s right, there’s a new single and it’s not even from the album? So is there a new Beatsteaks EP coming? No there isn’t. What is coming though, is the first proper Best Of from their time with Warner music (sorry folks, but that means no classics pre-„Living Targets“ will be on there
Read More Munich is kind of my spiritual home. My dad went to university there, it’s the capital of Bavaria, home to all of my family, and it’s home to the football club I’ve been supporting since I am able to think. I’ve never lived there and up until I finished university and started working, I had only ever been there twice (the first time with my grandparents when I was really young. The second time with my aunt, uncle and cousin when we visited the „Deutsche Museum“ and ended up not
